$4 million autonomous vehicle program includes Colorado Springs

US IGNITE CELEBRATES THE LAUNCH OF THE FORT CARSON SMART TRANSPORTATION TESTBED

We are pleased to announce a brand new program in the US Ignite portfolio. On October 10, we kicked off a smart transportation testbed and autonomous vehicle (AV) pilot program in coordination with Fort Carson, neighboring Colorado Springs, and the University of Colorado’s Research and Engineering Center for Unmanned Vehicles (RECUV).

This $4 million endeavor is funded by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), and is designed to use research with AVs and sensor-based technologies to help the Department of Defense reduce transportation costs, improve public safety, and deliver faster services on military installation sites.

Image of the Olli autonomous shuttle is from a recent AV pilot program on a joint base in Arlington, VA.

For future updates on the smart transportation testbed at Fort Carson, please visit our program site online. Questions? Please get in touch.

On a separate note, if you are interested in submitting a proposal for the Round III RFP on rural broadband in the Platforms for Advanced Wireless Research (PAWR) program, please note that we hosted a webinar yesterday covering details and frequently asked questions. An archived recording of that webinar is now available online. Slides are also available on the PAWR website.
